Of this, 59.03 tonnes of packaging waste were separated and directed to recycling, while 66.08 tonnes consisted of mixed municipal waste.

The "Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life." initiative, implemented by Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with the Sarajevo Film Festival, has been promoting the responsible disposal of packaging waste and the development of more sustainable festival practices for the past six years. This year, sets of separate waste collection containers were installed at 21 festival venues, enabling visitors to dispose of plastic packaging, beverage cans, glass packaging, and paper separately from mixed municipal waste.

As a long-standing project partner, Ekopak, in cooperation with KJKP RAD, played a key role in managing the separately collected packaging waste and ensuring that it was directed to recycling. This ensured that recyclable materials did not end up in landfill, but instead entered the recycling process.

This year's results once again demonstrate that cooperation between the private sector, public utility companies, and the system operator delivers tangible results. Every properly separated bottle, beverage can, or cardboard package contributes to the development of the packaging waste recycling system and helps reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.

Since the launch of the "Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life." initiative at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2021, significant quantities of waste have been collected for recycling, confirming that the responsible management of packaging waste has become an integral part of the region's largest film festival.
