Agreement for the Establishment of the First Recycling Yard Signed in Konjic
On July 7, 2025, at the premises of PUC Standard Konjic signed the agreement for the establishment of the first recycling yard in the City of Konjic. The agreement was signed by Amela Hrbat, Director of Ekopak; Samir Memić, Director of PUC Standard Konjic; and Elma Babić-Džihanić, Executive Director of ZEOS, the operator for EE waste.
Through this agreement, the three partners committed to working together on setting up a functional recycling yard that will allow the citizens of Konjic to dispose of various types of waste in one place — including packaging, EE waste, old tires, bulky waste, and other recyclable fractions.
Ekopak has been collaborating with PUC Standard Konjic for many years. Their first joint initiative was through the regional project "Glass Packaging Management in the Western Balkans," under which containers for glass collection were provided to Standard. Since then, Ekopak has financially supported the development of a primary packaging waste separation system in the city, while PUC Standard Konjic has been collecting and regularly delivering packaging waste into the Ekopak system.
The establishment of a recycling yard is a logical continuation of their long-standing cooperation and an important step forward in developing waste management infrastructure in Konjic. This project will not only make it easier for citizens to dispose of waste properly, but it will also significantly improve the overall recycling system at the local level.
Ekopak remains committed to developing a sustainable packaging waste management system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with strong support from local partners and communities.
