The international organization "Save the Children" in cooperation with "Ekopak" organized an educational workshop for school children on "Waste Management".

The workshop, which took place on Wednesday, March 23, at the Hollywood Hotel (Sarajevo), was attended by members of environmental sections, students, teaching and technical staff of two primary schools: Mirsad Prnjavorac Elementary School in Vogošća and Stari Ilijaš Elementary School in Ilijaš.

The lecture on waste management was held by representatives of the organization "Save the Children", "Ekopak" and the Association "Ekotim". On that occasion, children were able to learn what climate change is and how it affects people, how packaging waste is recycled in BiH and why it is important to select and recycle packaging waste.

The students completed this workshop with activity and very dynamic approach, as well as their interest in the topics of the project. At the end, a short documentary was shown, which is the idea and work of ninth grade students of the elementary school "Stari Ilijaš" on the topic of collecting and recycling paper in their school.

This project took place as part of the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Save the Children and Ekopak, whose primary goal is to increase the inclusion of children in recycling processes.

This project will take place in several phases, including an introductory training, equipping schools with containers for separate collection of paper and plastic packaging waste, workshops and lectures for students and wth final event.

Ekopak once again showed that the contribution and direct work on raising the environmental awareness of young fellow citizens is at the top of the company's list of priorities. Through interactive workshops and trainings, the implementation of the idea will continue in order to better acquaint children with the concept and importance of recycling and packaging waste management and with importance of their role in the overall system and process.
