ECO-SCHOOLS is the largest international licensed program for education in the field of environmental protection. This program helps to further improve environmental education in educational institutions (from kindergartens, schools to colleges) in cooperation with municipalities/cities, public utility companies, civil society, media and youth, with the aim of educating the new generation young people who will be environmentally aware, empowered and active in their communities.

The program currently includes 33 primary schools and 27 secondary schools. On Tuesday 16.03. and Monday 22.03. Annual meetings were held with the coordinators of Eco-schools in BiH, where they discussed the challenges of schooling during the pandemic, the methodology of 7 steps as well as the planned activities that will be implemented in the coming period.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the Young Eco Reporters competition and last year's winning works were also presented. At the end, conclusions were presented as well as ideas for further activities until the end of this school year, which will be adjusted to Covid regulations.

The competition, as well as the program itself, develops the skills and knowledge of young people, provides them with a deeper understanding of sustainable development and environmental protection, strengthens their communication and civic skills, personal initiative, teamwork, critical analysis, social responsibility and leadership skills. Detailed information about the competition can be found here.

The Eco-school program and the international competition Young Eco Reporters are organized by the Incubator of social innovations "MUNJA" with the info platform Hoću.ba. Thanks to EKOPAK - the first authorized operator of packaging waste management system and other partners such as Coca-Cola in BiH, Tretrapak and Zeos, Eco-schools started operating at the end of 2018 and today include 33 primary schools and 27 high schools from across the country.
