Sarajevo, 23.11.2016. - The 2016th edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) took place between the 19th and the 27th of November 2016, with registered 12.255 actions from 34. European countries. This year Ekopak joined EWWR by organizing events in the Canton of Sarajevo, where is promoted the importance of separate waste disposal and recycling of packaging waste. 

In front of the BBI Center was organized an exhibition with cases on how to reduce packaging waste. Informational materials are shared to citizens who also had the opportunity to exchange plastic bags for eco-bags, and to dispose the packaging waste in separate bins.

At the same time in the International Center for Children and Youth in Grbavica was held Bazaar of "Green entrepreneurship", where visitors could purchase products made of packaging waste. Ekopak used the opportunity to promote to visitors the positive practices of waste reduction, recycling and reuse, and offer new approach to citizens towards the environment in the Sarajevo Canton.

Upcoming activities of NGO Ekotim and Ekopak which will start on the beginning of December, are also announced and the eco-bags for separate waste disposal in households will be distributed to citizens.  In this way, citizens will be ease to sort the packaging waste in the neighborhoods where Ekopak set up the infrastructure, ie. appropriate containers for separate packaging waste disposal. It will help reducing the amount of waste which is daily disposed at the landfill Smiljevici.
