Eco islands, gifts and educational project for children

Sarajevo, 22.12.2015.- In SOS Hermann Gmeiner Resource Center for Children, Ekopak and Oriflame Cosmetics organised the holiday's gifts for children and educational play "Recycling is No Hassle" which is part of project "Tvrle the Ecologist". This performance aims to raise awareness and responsibility among children about the importance of environmental protection and separate disposal and recycling of packaging waste.

The performance in a fun way teaches children about the importance of environmental protection and separate disposal and recycling of packaging waste. To ensure that children apply knowledge in everyday life, Ekopak handed over the two sets to set up eco islands in the SOS Children's Village Sarajevo, which are intended for selective waste disposal. Ekopak and Oriflame prepared New Year gifts for children and SOS mothers, and Oriflame has handed the donation in the amount of 2,000.00KM.

Humanitarian engagement of Oriflame company is focused on providing a positive change for the most vulnerable groups of society - children and young women. Thanks to the many years of friendship with the Oriflame cosmetics, SOS Children's Villages are included in the program of strengthening families who are at risk of separation from biological parents, to have the opportunity for a better and happier future. Oriflame through financial support covers the cost of providing daycare for children from socially vulnerable families. In the five years of cooperation Oriflame donated 50,000.00 KM for childcare.

At the initiative of a socially responsible company Oriflame Cosmetics, who transferred its legal obligations for recycling and recovery of packaging waste to Ekopak - by which directly provides a financial contribution to the establishment of Green Dot system in our country, Ekopak joined the club of friends of SOS Children's Villages Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Currently there are 278 children and young people in the family model of childcare in two SOS Children's Villages in Sarajevo and Gracanica, and important aspect of education represents an environmental protection. In the daily work with children, special attention is pointed to three important segments in the environmental protection : waste reduction, recovery and recycling of packaging waste.

"As children learn best and acquire knowledge through play and performances, this gifts from Santa Claus brought a lot of smiles, and answers to questions that kids ask their SOS mothers. "May I take a bottle of juice to make a vase for flowers" is just one of the questions. We are sure that when they adopt beneficial habits in early childhood, they will become a model of behavior in the future. That is why is extremely important to educate children about environmental protection", said Damir Mahmic, manager of SOS Children's Village Sarajevo. "With immense gratitude to our longtime friend Oriflame cosmetics, we wish EKOPAK a warm welcome to the SOS family, and we believe that this is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship", added Mahmic.
