How paper is recycled?

There are several stages of processing from used to recycled paper.

After paper and cardboard packaging and other waste is disposed in adequate bins for separate waste disposal, paper waste can be recycled at least 7 times. Paper is then washed with soapy water where it is mixed to create ‘slurry’. The process is called flotation and it removes inks, plastic film, staples and glue and after that, the foam on the surface is removed. Such cleansed mixture is called pulp and it is used for making recycled paper rolls which is later cut into adequate size and it is ready to use. Cardboard packaging and newspapers are usually made from the recycled paper.

Please, watch a short animation about the recycling process taken from the RecycleNow website.
