Eco Islands delivered to the Municipality of Travnik

Travnik, 04.02.2016. - In front of the room PUC Basbunar Travnik was held the handover ceremony of 30 containers for separate collection of packaging waste which will be appointed at 10 locations. Ekopak procured container on the basis of the signed agreement on the establishment of the Green dot system for recovery and recycling of packaging waste in the Municipality of Travnik. The Agreement provided the arrangement of the surface on which eco-islands will be located, and the ongoing production of special niche. This will be followed by educational project intended for children and a variety of promotional activities.

 "In this way we want to provide the citizens of Travnik a selective separation of the packaging waste generated after daily used products with the help of packaging economy gathered around Ekopak. We also use the opportunity to call on all businesses who have a legal obligation under the Rules on the management of packaging waste, to join Ekopak and facilitate the development of the Green dot system in other municipalities in our country, which Ekopak built on the model of leading practices and experience of other European countries which we are linked by membership in the Pro Europe and Expra "said Hasan Ahmetspahic, Assistant Director for Cooperation with the local community.

After Bihac, Gracanica, Orasje, Donji Vakuf, Kladanj, Kljuc, Olovo, Breze, Vitez, Novi Travnik, Vogosca, Posusje, Kresevo, Kiseljak, Foca-Ustikolina in the Federation, Municipality of Travnik is 17th municipality  which joined the Green dot system. Activities of collecting packaging waste and its preparation for recycling are implementing in these municipalities and the realization of contracts previously signed in Sarajevo Canton is expected soon.

"Thanks to the Ekopak, Municipality of Travnik has made the first steps to establish a system for the recycling of packaging waste guided by the fact that in Europe" Waste is not waste "more a raw material," said Deputy Chief Abid Drobo.

Kemal Baltic has in front of PUC Basbunar added that special attention will be paid to setting up an eco-island by setting up a niches, and thus will be enabled the collection of packaging waste to further processing and recycling of raw materials.
