That is why the proper collection of glass packaging is of great importance for the preservation of natural resources and the reduction of waste at landfills.

As the first and leading authorized packaging recovery organisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ekopak is taking part in the project “Glass Challenge – The Bell is Calling You,” implemented by the marketing agency Republic in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of BiH. The aim of the project is to raise citizens’ awareness about the importance of recycling glass packaging and to encourage them to dispose of this type of packaging waste separately.

Continuation of Successful Cooperation

The “Glass Challenge” represents a continuation of the pilot project “Glass Packaging Management in the Western Balkans,” which Ekopak implemented in the municipalities of Ilidža, Novi Travnik, Bihać, and Konjic, within the framework of development cooperation with GIZ and the develoPPP.de program, together with the PROs Sekopak from Serbia and Pakomak from North Macedonia. This project is now expanding and bringing new experiences and benefits to local communities.

Project Goals

Through this project, the aim is to encourage citizens to properly dispose of glass packaging, strengthen awareness of the importance of recycling and nature conservation, promote personal responsibility, and foster active community involvement in reducing of waste.

Activities and Locations

From September to November 2025, promotional campaigns will be organized in the municipalities of Ilidža, Konjic, Novi Travnik, and Bihać.

Citizens will have the opportunity to participate in educational and interactive activities, and everyone who brings at least four pieces of glass packaging (bottles or jars) will receive a symbolic gift.
