As part of the NORBIH project, implemented in cooperation with partners from the city of Norrköping (Sweden), Ekopak actively participated in the two-day visit program of the Swedish delegation to the city of Bihać.

During the visit, Ekopak, invited by its long-standing partners – the public utility company Komrad Bihać and the City of Bihać – had the opportunity to present its work and the results it has achieved together with Komrad in the area of separate collection of packaging waste in this city.

On the first day, the program began with an official reception at the Mayor’s Office in Bihać, where Mayor Mr. Elvedin Sedić delivered a welcome speech, followed by a presentation about the city of Bihać. This was followed by a meeting of the Project Steering Group, during which a progress report was presented and upcoming activities were discussed. Additionally, the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) of the City of Bihać was presented. A representative of Ekopak then gave a presentation.

The delegation visited the Recycling Unit, the site planned for the construction of a recycling yard, and was introduced to the recently installed machine – a horizontal baler for preparing waste for recycling, co-financed by Ekopak. The group also viewed several environmental-themed murals around the city. As part of the field visit, a trip was organized to the neighborhood of Midžića Mahala, where guests spoke with residents participating in the "Mahala Recycles" initiative. Citizens shared their experiences, emphasizing that they have continued separating PET packaging and other types of waste even after the first phase of the project concluded.

The visit concluded with a tour of the old town of Bjelaj and a short lecture on historical fortresses and towns of northwestern Bosnia.

Ekopak extends its gratitude to the City of Bihać, Komrad, the Swedish partners, and all participants who contributed to the exchange of knowledge and further development of a sustainable recycling system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
