According to the "Annual Report on Packaging Waste Management for 2019" which is submitted every year to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of BiH, Ekopak as the first authorized operator of packaging waste management system in BiH, can boast with achieved results because the planned goals for recycling and recovery of packaging waste for last year were exceeded by 102%.

On behalf of 745 manufacturers, importers, distributors and traders who in 2019 transferred the obligation for management of packaging waste, Ekopak sent 12,582 tons of collected packaging waste for recycling.

Thanks to our network of 21 collectors and associates from 10 cantons of FBiH, 10 public utility waste companies and 11 private companies that collect all types of packaging waste for Ekopak, the annual planned goal of 35% has been met as well as specific targets for all packaging materials: plastic, paper, metal, glass, wood, multilayer packaging and packaging of hazardous materials.

Our mission is not at all simple and no matter how impossible it may seem at times, when we look at our results they give us an additional motive to work even harder on strengthening the recycling system in BiH ", said Amela Hrbat, managing director of Ekopak and added that this way Ekopak proves its commitment to establish a system of separate collection and recycling of packaging waste legally, transparently and in accordance with the best european experiences and practices at the lowest sustainable costs and for the benefit of the whole society.
