Visitors of the National Park Una and students of the Biotechnical Faculty in Bihac will participate in the recycling of packaging waste

Bihac, 28.10.2015. – Based on a  previously signed agreement on cooperation with Ekopak, today was organized a ceremonial handover of sets of containers and bins in which all visitors of the National Park Una will dispose packaging waste separately and thus will participate in the protection and promotion of this natural gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bins will be placed behind the walking tracks and the PUC Komrad will collect the waste from the bins.

"After the two years of cooperation in the field of environmental protection and improvement of the National Park Una, and after signing the agreement between the companies Ekopak ltd Sarajevo and PU National Park Una ltd Bihac, on which is based today's handover of containers and bins for selection of municipal waste, I can conclude that, when it comes to the entire sector of environmental protection, a new phase in the management of municipal waste started. Also, at the same time started the phase of improving environmental awareness to visitors and residents who live close to the youngest national park in Southeast Europe. This shows us that Ekopak recognized uniqueness and values of this area, as well as the results achieved in all business segments NP Una in the last four years since the beginning of the establishment of National Park Una and the PUC Una ltd Bihac, which is the legal manager of this protected area. These containers and bins will be placed in areas of the National Park Una, and in the most attractive visitor's areas Strbacki buk - Lohovo and Martin Brod. Based on our partnership, in this way we will raise the level of services for visitors of the National Park Una and also act on the local population", says Amarildo Mulic, manager of the National Park Una.

On the same day was organized the delivery of the bins and containers to Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Bihac, where will students dispose the packaging waste properly. "On the initiative of the management of the Biotechnical Faculty, the faculty joined Ekopak's Green Dot System, through which Biotechnical Faculty will send a message of its social responsibility and educate young people about the importance of establishing a system for the recycling of packaging waste in the country", said Dean Professor Osman Perviz and also thanked the non-profit company Ekopak on delivered infrastructure.

City of Bihac has earlier signed a contract with the first authorized Packaging Recovery Organisation Ekopak and PUC Komrad, and became the part of the Green Dot System for recycling and recovery of packaging waste, which enabled citizens to separately dispose packaging waste on eco islands at 31 locations. PUC Komrad actively collects, prepares and transports the packaging waste to recycling, through the system of Ekopak.

"The delivery of infrastructure for separate collection of packaging waste, was enabled by the packaging industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina who transferred its legal obligations for recycling of packaging waste to Ekopak. We invite all subjects who have legal obligations for the recycling of packaging waste, to transfer them to Ekopak, which will strengthen the platform of the B&H economy gathered around Ekopak, who establishes a transparent, efficient and long term system of separate collection and recycling of packaging waste, at the lowest sustainable cost", said Hasan Ahmetspahic Assistant to Director for cooperation with the local community in Ekopak.
