Realization of the previously introduced project of establishment of the 15 eco-islands in the Ključ Municipality,was held today at the ceremonial handover of 45 containers and vehicle for the collection of packaging waste.

The ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Branka Đurić and assistants, Cantonal Minister of Construction, Urban Planning and Environmental Protection of the Una-Sana Canton, Sinha Kurbegović with assistants, Mayor of the Ključ Municipality Nedžad Zukanović, manager of public utility company ''Rad'' from Ključ Sanela Draganović and manager of Ekopak Amela Hrbat.

At this way the Ključ Municipality becomes one of the municipalities where Ekopak establishes a Green Dot system of separate collection and recycling of packaging waste and strengths the environmental protection segment, as in the most successful European systems.

The urban part of the municipality Ključ, primary and secondary school will be covered by 15 eco-islands.

According to the manager of Ekopak, Amela Hrbat, the main role of the licensed packaging recovery organization is to establish a system of separate collection and recycling of packaging waste in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

„Ekopak operates by the non-profit principle, which means that the profit gained at the end of the financial year can not be shared between shareholders, but to invest it in strengthening municipal infrastructure. So far Ekopak has signed agreements with the municipalities of Bihać, Gračanica, Orašje, Donji Vakuf, Kladanj, Ključ and Olovo“, explains Hrbat, stating that the aim is to establish a sustainable system in all municipalities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
