Soon in Gračanica: Development of the system of packaging waste primary selection from municipal waste

General director of Ekopak, Amela Hrbat, held a meeting in Gračanica with the municipality mayor, Mr. Nusret Helić, general director of the public utility service Komus, Mrs. Zakira Đogić, and the technical director, Mr. Senad Memić.

In the meeting, they discussed details regarding initiation of the project „Establishment and development of packaging waste primary selection from the household solid waste in the municipality of Gračanica.“

The project will be realized by Ekopak in cooperation with the municipality and Komus, by which the municipality of Gračanica becomes one of the first municipalities in the Federation of BiH. The main objective of the project on the area covered by the municipality of Gračanica's governance is to establish a collecting, sorting, balling and recycling packaging waste system which should serve as a positive example of introducing a new way of waste and packaging waste recycling management to the other municipalities and cantons in the Federation of BiH.

The project which involves a free distribution communal waste bins and yellow and blue bags for separate PET waste and paper disposal has been realized by the public utility service Komus in cooperation with the Municipality of Gračanica for a year now. With the support of Ekopak the project is going to endure by including a thousand households more and by collecting all sorts of packaging material and their preparation for recycling.

The project of public service Komus as well as the project that is to be realized by Ekopak represent investment of the Gračanica Municipality and public service Komus in implementing integrated waste management process in the area of the municipality.
