The project Play your part – recycle!” , jointly carried out by Ekopak and KJKP RAD during the 2026 Sarajevo Film Festival, has been successfully completed. 

Thanks to excellent cooperation with Sarajevo coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and festival venues, as well as the proactive and responsible engagement of their staff, more than 30 tons of glass packaging was collected and will be sent for recycling.
The goal of the project was to divert as much glass packaging as possible from mixed municipal waste and direct it into the recycling process, thereby contributing to the development of a separate packaging waste collection system and reducing the amount of waste ending up in landfills.
As part of this challenge, three participating venues stood out by collecting the largest quantities of glass:


1.    Caffe Bar City Lounge – 5,543 kg
2.    Ljetni Bar Summer Lounge – 4,077 kg
3.    Pub Tesla – 2,641 kg

For their achievements, they will receive special recognition as a token of appreciation for their responsible approach to glass packaging recycling.

The results of the project confirm that significant progress in the development of the packaging waste recycling system can be achieved through the joint efforts of the hospitality sector, the public utility company and the packaging waste management system operator. Projects like this show that even large events, such as the Sarajevo Film Festival, can make an important contribution to the development of sustainable practices and responsible packaging waste management.
