Recycling Challenge in Konjic: Knowledge, Speed and Team Spirit in One Classroom
Who can sort packaging waste correctly the fastest? Who knows the answers to recycling questions? Who will be the first to solve the eco-crossword puzzle?
Together with the students of the First Primary School Konjic, we searched for the answers to these questions during an educational and entertaining workshop on the importance of packaging waste recycling, organized by Ekopak and the CETAP project.
Instead of a traditional lecture, the classroom at times looked like a real recycling challenge. Through team games, competitions, and plenty of laughter, the children learned how to separate packaging waste and why it is important for it to enter the recycling process rather than end up in landfills.
Particularly exciting was the rapid packaging waste sorting competition, where students demonstrated how quickly they learn when education is turned into a game. The winning team received small prizes, but the real winners were all participants, who showed great knowledge, energy, and team spirit.
The children spent time with Zekopak and also met the recycling heroes of the CETAP project – Plasta, the plastic recycling hero; Kartonko, the paper and cardboard recycling hero; Flaško, the glass recycling hero; and Bananko, the bio-waste recycling hero.
At the end of the workshop, all students received certificates for successfully completing the educational programme, as well as educational colouring books prepared by CETAP and Ekopak.
Through activities like these, children learn in a fun way that packaging waste is not rubbish, but a valuable resource that can be given a new life through proper separation and recycling.
