EKOPAK NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL 2015
Ekopak implemented many projects and activities in April.
According to the previously signed contracts, Ekopak organized the handover of infrastructure to municipalities that have entered the Green Dot system: Municipality of Posušje, Vitez, Novi Travnik and Breza.
Ekopak financed the purchase of containers and special waste - bells or vehicles for separate collection of packaging waste in these municipalities, and is committed to carry out educational and promotional activities aimed at raising public awareness about the proper disposal and recycling of packaging waste.
An educational project "Smile of The Planet is in Your Hands" was implemented in Municipality of Breza through which passed 1,500 students of primary and secondary schools in the municipality. During the month of April elementary school students were collecting packaging waste in the Municipality of Vogošća. Ekopak provided small prizes for participating schools. Educational activities will be implemented in all schools and kindergardens in the Municipality of Velika Kladuša.
We supported this year's Third National Competition of high school students in entrepreneurship called "Business Challenge 2015". The theme was "Recycling - the Need and Opportunity", where Ekopak as a general friend of the project supported the implementation of activities. Through the topic young people were motivated to devise numerous entrepreneurial activities in the field of recycling, and at the same time learn about the need for and benefits of separating and collection of packaging waste.
Ekopak's journalistic competition "The establishment of Green Dot system in B&H" is completed this month. The competition was for journalistic works that have been published and registered for the contest in the period from 20th December 2014 to 20th March 2015. Broadcast of Al Jazeera journalists - Sanel Kajan "B&H in the European system for recycling" is the winning work, which tells about the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Green Dot system. B&H through Ekopak became the 32nd member state of the European system operators family PRO EUROPE based in Brussels. A journalist from Oslobođenje Alema Halebić Pendek received an award for journalistic contribution for the published article "Green Dot Takes You to Europe".
On April 22nd we marked International Earth Day with numerous activities. Our client, a socially responsible company dm in cooperation with Ekopak organized promotional activities in Sarajevo and Mostar titled "Packaging for The Flower and The World Will be Beautiful Again". The aim was to show the citizens the importance of preserving the environment. Educational play "Recycling is No Hassle", which is implemented in cooperation with Bosnian National Theater Zenica is shown in the Municipalities of Breza and Vogošća.
We have supported this year's action of cleaning "Clean Vogošća" where more than 1.000 participants collected packaging waste at 21 location in eight local communities. We have also joined educational and fun activities that are organized for World Health Day where we set up kits of waste bins for selective disposal of packaging waste in order to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection because a clean environment creates a healthy environment.
