Formal handover of infrastructure for the establishment of five eco-islands, as well as sets of bins that will be placed in front of the kindergardens in the municipality of Novi Travnik, was held on Thursday, 16.04.2015. In addition to the existing infrastructure, Novi Travnik now has a total of 13 eco-islands. Ekopak financed the vehicle for the selective collection of packaging waste so the cycle could be closed and packaging waste ultimately recycled.

The handover was attended by the mayour of the municipality of Novi Travnik Refik Lendo, director of JKP "Vilenica-čistoća" Tihomir Sučić and an Expert Sales and Communications Associate from Ekopak Samra Jažić.

Mayor of the Municipality of Novi Travnik expressed satisfaction that the Ekopak enabled citizens of the municipality to obtain containers and selectively dispose packaging waste. He points out that in addition to training it is necessary to carry out the appropriate measures so that citizens behave responsibly towards the waste which is not garbage but useful raw material.

Ekopak will in future carry out educational and promotional activities designed to spread positive awareness about the proper disposal of packaging waste. One of the upcoming activities is the performance for children from primary schools called "Tvrle the Ecologist" that is to be held on 27.04.2015. at 13h at the Dom kulture Novi Travnik. The performance is implemented in cooperation with the Bosnian National Theatre in Zenica.

Ekopak invites all manufacturers, importers, packers, distributors and retailers to regulate their legal obligations for packaging waste through Ekopak, and facilitate the establishment of the system in all municipalities of the Federation modeled on the best practices of European countries with which Ekopak is connected through PRO EUROPE.
