Ekopak Newsletter September 2013

Dear clients and associates of Ekopak,

Welcome to our  Newsletter - September 2013!

After the summer vacation, September was very active in Ekopak

We have signed a contract with the Gračanica Municipality and Public Utility Service Komus on the co-financing project of the separate packaging waste collecting in Gračanica. The Gračanica Municipality is officially the second municipality in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after Bihac, where the implementation od the Ordinance in Packaging and Packaging Waste Management and establishment of the all kinds of packaging waste management is initiated.

Ekopak was visited by Mrs Ursula Denison, the managing director of the „Pro Europe“ organization from Brussels with whom the licencing for the „Green Dot“ trademark was discussed. Ekopak has prepared the application for the licence and it is a step away from becoming an authorized company for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina for placing this trademark on the products. The „Green Dot“ trademark on each piece of packaging implies that the packaging is taken care of by the Operator of the system, that is that the collecting and recycling was paid for. This is a very important information for the consumers when they buy packed products.

In the Prozor-Rama Municipality, realization of the „the Planet's Smile is in Your Hands“ which was implemented in the Sarajevo Canton last school-year has began. The project will involve 2.100 children from all educational facilities within the Prozor Rama Municipality. The youngest citizens of the municipality will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge about the importance of packaging waste selection and its recycling in a fun and interactive way, through lectures, competition and quizzes, and the most prominent individuals and schools will be awarded accordingly.

„Tvrle the Ecologist“ project, which has been initiated by Ekopak in cooperation with the NGO „Citizens Forum Zenica“ and Bosnian National Theater Zenica, continues. „Recycling is not a hassle“ play was presented to the students of the primary school „Ćamil Sijarić“ from Nemila on the Vranduk fortress. Apart from Zenica, the project is to be realized within the Prozor-Rama Municipality and, by the end of February 2014, for the students within the eight municipalities of the Una-Sana Canton. The play „Recycling is not a hassle“ was premiered in Sarajevo as part of the entertaining yet educational manifestation „Researchers' Night“

Holdina, Kemis and Ekopak held a meeting on establishing a system of collecting and recovering packaging waste that contains and/or is contaminated by hazardous substance on the location of all 106 retail objects of Ina and Energopetrol. Holdina is the first obliged subject that operate within the same or similar economic activity, packaging waste that contains and/or is contaminated by the hazardous substance management effectively improves, so that such packaging waste wouldn't end up on landfills, but would be reused and recycled.

Business Association Posušje organized an educational meeting on packaging waste management where Ekopak presented the obligations that are given by the Ordinance for every legal entity that produces, imports or in any other way places the packaging waste on the market as well as the role of Ekopak as an authorized operator of the packaging waste management system in the FBiH.

On the 11th Ekobis Fair in Bihać in cooperation with the Public Utility Service Komrad promoted the project of the separate packaging waste collecting and the Eco-islands are set on 20 different locations in Bihać.

Ekopak, supported by Papir Servis organized packaging waste collection on Sarajevo Half-marathon 2013. This sports event was organized regarding the International Car Free Day as a contribution to raising awareness of the citizens on the importance of environmental protection. Papir Servis had sent the collected waste to recycling.

We have started many more activities, and about their successful realization, we will inform you in the upcoming Ekopak Newsletters.

Sincerely yours,

Ekopak Team
