Welcome to our Newsletter - July 2013

This month, Ekopak focused its activities in several different directions. We call attention to the initiation of the pilot project in Bihać „"Separate Packaging Waste Collection From Municipal Solid Waste In The Municipality Of Bihać“. With the official contract signing between Ekopak and  public utility service company „Komrad“, realization of the project started having the main objective to build up a European model of packaging waste management according to the principle of „extended producer responsibility“. This way, the conditions for establishing a sustainable system of packaging waste management are well-assured and the social ecological awareness development is triggered.  One of the technical conditions to make this possible is owning a specialized vehicle for packaging waste collection which was partly funded by Ekopak.

At the beginning of the month, Ekopak, in cooperation with the Sports and Recreation Center Vlašić and supported by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ekopak participated in setting of special compartments containing nets for separate packaging waste collection. Adequate messages placed on prominent spots invite all visitors to Vlašić to protect natural beauty of the winter center. 

We have also signed a contract with Kemis, a company from Lukavac, on establishing a packaging waste collection and recovery system of the packaging waste containing or being contaminated with hazardous materials in accordance with the Ordinance Ordinance on Amendments of the Ordinance from April 2013 (Official Journal FBiH no 28/13). Kemis, as a part of the Gorenje from Velenja Group, have been dealing with the hazardous waste disposal and is the largest exporter of the hazardous waste from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union countries.

Since we have created online database last month, most of our clients registered on our website in July and submitted packaging waste market placement within the FBiH reports online for the second quarter. Companies that still have not submitted their reports we kindly remind that the deadline for the reporting was on July 20th and that we are still expecting the reports. For any necessary help for the registration and data input, Ekopak Team is at your service.

We are proud to emphasize that the number of producers, importers, fillers and packers, distributors and final suppliers / trades is in constant growth, which strengthens the foundations for the efficient and transparent packaging waste management system in the FBiH.
