EKOPAK'S NEWSLETTER FOR OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2014.

During October and November there were many activities in Ekopak and one of our focuses were preparations for promotion of the international trademark the Green Dot.

As we suppose you already know, at the end of the last year, by fulfilling strict criteria and high standards established by the EU, Ekopak become 32nd member of PRO EUROPE – the European umbrella organisation of system operators which is based in Brussels.

In this way packaging waste is involved in European integrations and our country became a member of the large family through Ekopak, whose main facts and figures are:

• The Green Dot sign is today's most widespread and most used trademark in the world, protected in more than 170 countries;
• More than 170.000 companies mark their packaging with the Green Dot sign;
• Over 460 million units of packaging waste is marked with this symbol annually;
• About 300 million people have access to separate packaging waste disposal, which is financed by the members of PRO EUROPE – the system operators such as Ekopak.

By being the member of PRO EUROPE, Ekopak also became the exclusive licenser of the right to use the Green Dot sign for the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also have the obligation towards Brussels to legally regulate the use of this sign in our market.

Ekopak will work on introduction of meaning and importance of Green Dot, towards packaging companies, as well as to consumers who need to know that, by buying products with this sign on packaging, they're buying products from socially responsible companies and thus contribute directly to the system of separate collection and recycling of packaging waste in our country.
