From October 13th to 14th, 2023, the Association of System Operators in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted an important workshop dedicated to the implementation of regulations governing packaging and packaging waste management, as well as regulations on the management of electrical and electronic waste in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organizers gathered key stakeholders in the process of implementing these regulations to discuss past achievements, challenges, and future goals.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism, Nasiha Pozder, who demonstrated an interest in the results achieved so far, particularly in the challenges facing the further development of the packaging and electrical and electronic waste recycling systems. President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirsad Jašarspahić, spoke on behalf of the organizers.

The workshop was attended by advisors to the Federal Minister, Lejla Arnautović and Tomislav Lukić, as well as experts from the ministry, representatives from the Environmental Protection Fund of FBiH, and market and environmental inspectors from the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs. Additionally, four system operators in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were present, including Ekopak and Eko život for packaging waste, and Kim Tec Eko and Zeos Eko system for electrical and electronic waste. The mentioned institutions are key stakeholders in the implementation of the Packaging Regulations and the Electrical and Electronic Waste (EE) Regulations.

All participants presented their previous achievements, as well as the challenges they encounter daily in implementing the regulations, and they provided suggestions for overcoming these challenges. We are pleased that Minister Pozder has expressed her interest in this field and her willingness to cooperate further in the development of established systems for packaging and electrical and electronic waste recycling.
