Dear clients and associates of Ekopak

Welcome to our October 2013 newsletter!

We were very busy in this month, as well. The beginning of October was marked by Ekopak's involvement the international level:

  • Ekopak presented its work in Ohrid on a regional workshop on packaging and packaging waste management and as the youngest member, joined the family of regional waste management operators.
  • The general director of Ekopak, Amela Hrbat, attended the 20th anniversary of the European organization for packaging and environment – EUROPEN, in Brussels, where the revision of the EU Directive 94/62 of packaging waste was discussed. The directive defines the packaging waste recycling goals, which member countries of the EU are obliged to acquire, and the countries that are in process of joining the EU, adapt to according to their capacities, just like our entity environmental ministries did through by-law acts on packaging waste. The revision follows next year, after full two decades of the Directive's implementation and one revision in 2004.
  • Ekopak was visited by Mr. Petr Kašička, the Head of the Economic and Commercial Business Department at the Embassy of Czech Republic in BiH, with whom the continuation of the successful cooperation with the Czech Embassy and new projects planned for the next fiscal year were planned.

Ekopak participated at the Assembly meeting of the Producers of Non-Alcoholic Drinks and Water Association of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, where the Ordinance of the packaging waste management was presented as well as the benefits of joining the system through Ekopak. With the aim of philanthropic segment of business development and growing stronger as a socially responsible company, we have supported another action of the altruist NGO „Svjetlo“ – Our Clean Yards – Bijela tabija (The White Bastion).

By the end of the month, in partnership with Art Cinema Kriterion, we had fun at the Halloween costume party presenting the „Waste is Taste“ project and a different and creative method of using packaging waste by making fashion designs and costumes.

We emphasize the cooperation with the ecological association "Izvor" as a successfully implemented educational project which took part in all the educational institutions in Prozor-Rama Municipality "The Planet's Smile is in Your Hands“. We introduced Ekopak, separate packaging waste disposal and recycling to 2,500 children, and the ones who learnt the most were awarded with valuable prizes.

A discussion on separate packaging waste collecting and recycling has opened with the mayor of the Pale-Prača Municipality, Mr. Asim Zec.
