NEWSLETTER FOR 1st QUARTER OF 2019.

The key activities in the first quarter of 2019 were marked by the completion of several significant projects and activities.

We submitted the "Annual Report on Packaging  Waste Management for 2018" and we can proudly say that we exceeded annual targets. That's the goal for glass is fulfilled with 103%, metal with 105%, paper 103,  plastic 104%, wood 105%, multilayers 116%, and for package of hazardous materials even 163%. Aims for recycling and recovery of package material waste are completely fulfilled. Ekopak took over from its clients, which are around 700 producers, importers, fillers, distributors and traders, 33 593 tons of package material for management. 12,197 tons were recycled and recovered, which exceeded the prescribed target of 35%.

Also, Ekopak in collaboration with CCI realized Eko-quiz show (six shows) in the November and December last year. Negotiations with leading TV houses in Federation of BiH are in progress, and the quiz-show will be transmitted on the Internet Television ''Iniciativa TV'', that is in CCI ownership. In marking of the International Day for the Protection of Wetlands and Wetland Habitats, Ekopak installed containers for the separate disposal of packaging waste in Hutovo blato and thus introduced Hutovo blato into the system of disposal and recycling of packaging waste.


Licensed system operators for managing package material and package material waste in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, companies Ekopak Sarajevo and Eko život Tuzla, and licensed system operators for managing electronic and electronics waste Kim Tec Eko Vitez and Zeos Sarajevo, have founded the Association of system operators in BiH (ASO), whose aim is improvement and development of recycling system and using special categories of waste in Federation of BiH.

In Sarajevo, the second ‘’National workshop concerning statistics of chemicals and waste’’ has been presented. An aim was to give a support to a realization of sustainable development goals (SDG), building up conscious and improvement of national capacities for collecting documents regarding environment protection field. Ekopak took an active role in workshop, and the director of Ekopak Amela Hrbat presented relevant information and methodology of calculation In SDG indicator’s segment concerning package material that is placed and recycled on BiH market.

‘’Promotion of sea waste managing and the best practices over Adriatic region’’ – was the theme of an international conference that was held in Sarajevo. In the framework of workshop, Ekopak presented its experience and achieved results till the moment, as well as gave suggestions for improvement of current state. Ekopak supported an action named ''Together – little and big watchers of enviroment in the municipality Centar''. Under this action, four ground schools in Center have been included for which Ekopak and COOR  placed a set of containers for colleting package material waste. KJKP Rad also took a part in the project, that will transport collected package material waste. The school that colllects the most package material waste will be awarded.

Ekopak at EYOF! The organization was faultless, and Ekopak was a part of this successful story. Namely, in corporation with KJKP RAD and EYOF, Ekopak placed containers for selective delay of waste on the mountains Igman, Bjelasnica, and inside of the halls Zetra and Skenderija, which kept our Olympic ground clean. In organization of Incubators of social innovations MUNJA, and the first licensed system’s operator for managing package material waste – Ekopak and Tetra Pak company, the first info seminar about international program ,,Eco-schools’’ was held in Sarajevo.

Promotion in Tuzla has completed a campaign ''Green Dot'' in BiH. With the aim of educating  our fellow-townsmen,  in the beginning of December last year Ekopak started a promotive campaign of international protected symbol ''Green Dot,'' and promotions, organized in cooperation with partners, socially responsible companies Fis, R-Time, BBI center, Mepas Mall and Ovnak, were held in malls all over BiH. Within a framework of marking the World recycling day, Ekopak joined an action of cleaning Sarajevan parks. Our team cleaned a park close to Importanne center, wanting to send a message by their personal example, regarding importance of ecological conscience, to our neighbours and co-citizens.
