EKOPAK NEWSLETTER FOR JANUARY 2015

At the beginning of the year Ekopak is focused on the preparation of the Annual report for 2014 to be sent to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Environmental Protection Fund of FB&H, as evidence that we have met prescribed recycling and recovery targets. According to the Ordinance on packaging and packaging waste, specific targets entered into force last year, so there was a big challenge in front of Ekopak: in the conditions of lack of municipal infrastructure and capacity for separate collection, as well as for recycling or recovery of certain types of packaging waste in our country, to ensure that all types of packaging materials are collected and submitted to recycling: plastic, paper, metal, glass, wood, multilayer packaging, packaging containing and / or contaminated by hazardous materials, and the given targets of packaging waste is recovered in the process of recovery and recycling.

Now we are in the process of collection the final annual reports on the amount of packaging that was placed on the territory of Federation of B&H in 2014 by several hundred of our clients and, on the other hand, we are collecting reports of our collectors and recyclers, in order to finalize the Annual Report and to inform Federal Ministry of Environment that we meet targets third year at the row, at the lowest sustainable costs.

During the January we continued to inform consumers about the meaning and importance of the Green Dot sign, which is protected in more than 170 countries, used by over 170 000 companies world-wide and by which it is marked over 460 billion units of packaging waste annually. There has been great interest of consumers, who buy products with this sign on and, as individuals, contribute to the recycling of packaging waste, protect the environment and send a message to packaging companies to use the sign on their packaging.

We invite all our clients to use the Green Dot on the packaging of their products, as this sends a clear message to consumers about their social responsibility, fulfillment legal obligations and financial contribution to the establishment and development of long-term, transparent, sustainable and efficient Green Dot System in our country. Download the Green Dot Guidebook HERE.

In January we implemented the obligations of the contract with municipalities and public utility companies "Komrad" from Bihać and "Bioštica" from Olovo, and handed them the infrastructure for selective disposal of packaging waste.
