Ekopak Newsletter September 2014

Since September, the Ključ Municipality with its utility company „Rad“, entered in the system of Ekopak. The Contract for establishment of 15 eco-islands for separate disposal of packaging waste and vehicle for its collection is signed by Mr. Nedžad Zukanović, Mayor of Ključ Municipality, Mrs. Sanela Draganović, director of public utility company „Rad“ from Ključ and Amela Hrbat, director of Ekopak.

Ekopak provided 10 sets of waste bins for packaging waste disposal for Sarajevo International Airport. This will enable passengers and services users of Sarajevo International Airport to selectively dispose packaging waste, as it is the practice at all airports in the world that operate at international standards, while Ekopak, at this way as well, continuing raising the awareness of the need and importance of separate disposal and recycling of packaging waste.

We have also participated at EKOBIS - The 12th International Ecology Fair, which took place in Bihać from 04th till 07th September, where we promoted successful cooperation with Komrad, the utility company from Bihać.

At the "Girls running" event organized in Sarajevo, at September the 14th, to promote healthy lifestyle and racing sport, together with building up healthier and more active society, we enabled participants and visitors to dispose separately the waste from water and beverages generated during the event, by providing waste bins, collecting the waste and transporting it to recycling.

As part of the ''Movement for Happiness'' project, organized by Coca-Cola in cooperation with Tuzla Municipality at September 17th at Mejdan Hall in Tuzla, a Fitness Day took place, with a goal to inspire as many people as possible, regardless of their age and physical condition, to pay attention to their health and environment through active lifestyle. Ekopak promoted separate collection and recycling of packaging waste as part of the overall care of the environment in which we all can personally participate.

We have cooperated with the diving club "Bosna" and supported the Boračko lake cleaning. Specially designed meshed bags that enabled divers to collect the waste from the water, were provided by our client - a socially responsible company "Sjemenarna" from Široki Brijeg, to which we are thankful for support.

This year as well, Ekopak provided waste bins for participants of the 8th Sarajevo Half Marathon to dispose packaging from  bottles of  water  and other beverages. At this way, the environmental part of the event, who’s original idea was the contribution to the International Day Without Cars, is enhanced. The 8th Sarajevo Half Marathon is organized by The Marathon Association and gathered a record number of participants from around the world.

At the end of the month, at the initiative of Chamber of Commerce of Bosansko-podrinjski Canton, we held the workshop with topic: "Solid Waste Management and Establishment of System of Packaging and Packaging Waste Management in FB&H". Except local companies’ representatives, the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ministry of Urban Development and Environment of Bosansko-podrinjski Canton and representatives of Goražde Municipality, also attended the workshop. On this occasion our clients Unis Ginex, MPI Mlin Ustikolina, Muris Company and SPK Emina aworded certificates for "Green Dot" usage which they acquired by entering in system of Ekopak.
