Ekopak Newsletter May 2014

Dear clients and associates of Ekopak,

Welcome to our Newsletter for May 2014!

This month, between other activities, we have focused on finalizing educational projects that we were organizing for the children, since school year is coming to the end.

Children from primary school „Ivan Mažuranić“ from Posušje, the largest primary school in BiH, had final quiz – within the Project “Planets Smile is in Your Hands”. Children were prepared for this quiz through workshops conducted by the young eco-activists Marija Jurišić, Jozo Miličević i Mate Lončar. We have also prepared prizes for the winners. In order for students to apply what they’ve learned, we’ve installed special recycling bins in their school yards.

In cooperation with Ministry of Construction, Urban Development and Environmental Protection, from Una - Sana Canton, we’ve organized the theatre play „Recycling is Not a Hassle” for the children of this canton. Over 4.000 children had the opportunity to learn more about packaging waste disposal and recycling at the educational and fun way.

We have also took participation in “Days of the Boračko Lake”, the eco-event which had the goal to remind people about unique natural beauty of this lake. Main part of the event was cleaning and decorating of the coast and coastal area, workshop, round table and eco-camp.

We’ve participated in ecological and for the good cause project “Buy the Eco Brick”, that was organized by Ecoton company. The goal was to help the Association “Heart for Cancer Struggling Children” in FBiH, to build a house for parents of the children to stay in. The bricks were used to build waste bins for packaging waste separation which we’ve installed in Sarajevo ZOO, National Park of Vrelo Bosna and at the area of Ilidža Municipality.

We have received the invitation from Sarajevo’s chess club “Junior” to participate in their tournament, so we placed our recycling bins for waste separation to their club.

As socially responsible company, we gave our small donations for flooded areas in our country, that is, in accordance to the recommendation of Federal Minister of Environment Mrs. Branka Đurić, paid to the account of the Government of Federation BiH.  Besides, public utilitiy companies from our system were included in the process of cleaning and waste collection from affected areas.

With all of these activities that we have, our focus stays on collection of packaging waste, considering the obligation to collect and recycle all kinds of packaging waste: plastic, paper, metal, glass, multilayer materials, packaging containing hazardous materials. With our collectors, we’ve organized collection in order to achieve annual targets.

More details for each activity mentioned can be seen below.

Yours respectfully,

Ekopak Team
