Dear clients and associates of Ekopak

Welcome to our Newsletter.

The news that marked this month in Ekopak arrived from Cologne where the general directors of member companies of PRO EUROPE organization had an assembly meeting. At the session, it was concluded that we have met all the requirements and attending members unanimously confirmed accession of Ekopak in the membership. With the headquarters in Brussels, PRO EUROPE, the umbrella organisation for European packaging and packaging waste recovery and recycling schemes with this act has verified the authorization that Ekopak got from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism last year.

Moreover, in November, we continued implementing the ongoing projects.

In Sarajevo Canton, we have initiated the second cycle of the educational project for children „The Planet's Smile is in Your Hands“ which is now being implemented in eleven primary and secondary schools in Sarajevo. There will be around 1500 pupils participating and Ekopak will also award the best individuals and schools through the competition within the project.

The eight schools in Sarajevo which were included in the first cycle of the project last school year were provided by yellow and blue waste bins for separate packaging waste disposal and by this, we have given the opportunity to schools and children to practically apply the acquired knowledge: separate packaging waste disposal.

Within the "Separate Packaging Waste Collection from the Municipal Solid Waste in the Gračanica Municipality“ project, there have been set 8 Eco-islands. All of the eight locations have capacities for paper and plastic packaging waste disposal, and 5 of them are also available for glass packaging waste disposal. In the following period, it is planned to have Eco-islands set on 8 other locations in the municipality.

This month, Ekopak participated at the „Packaging, Electronic and Electrical Waste Management“ seminar organized by CETEOR. Along with the representatives from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Environmental Fund of the Federation of BiH, Ekopak had the opportunity to present the principles of its work as well as the achieved goals up to this point.
