Definition of the System Operator in Amendments and additions to the Law on waste management

At the assembly of the Home Nations of the Parliament of the Federation of B&H, which was held on November 9, the Amendments to the Law on Waste Management were adopted. For the first time, the Law introduced the definition of a System Operator - a legal entity that, according to the system of "extended producer responsibility", fulfills the objectives for recycling and reuse of specific waste categories; it can be established only by legal persons who carry out their business activity by placing the products on the market, that later become special categories of waste.

The law also introduced the jurisdiction of market inspectors, and the penalties for non-compliance have increased significantly.

The text of the Amendments to the Law was published in the Official Gazette of Federation B&H No. 92/17 on 29.11.2017. and you can download it here.
